Basketball World Title goes to the U.S.A.

The U.S. Men's Basketball team won the world title yesterday by beating Turkey 81-64 in the FIBA Championships. This is the first title for the U.S. in 16 years! Uh, yea you heard that right. Isn't it embarrassing? Hasn't the U.S. been the best in basketball for like, forever?

Odd. But at least this year our team won convincingly and reclaimed the title. Kevin Durant had a record 28 points for a U.S. player in the tournament. "Coach K" (whose fulltime job is to coach the Duke Blue Devils) finally won the gold after earning bronze medals in his last two attempts as coach. Most notably, is the fact that this team was known as the U.S.'s "B-team," since superstars like Kobe Bryant and Lebron James opted not to play in the tournament. So props to our "B-team" for bringing it home when our supposed "A-team" failed to do so in the last two attempts.

And look closely - some of those players look like they ought to be in high school, so way to go!
