The NBA Houston Rockets' big man, Yao Ming, will play a maximum of 24 minutes in each game this season. (A full game is 48 minutes long, consisting of 12 minute quarters.) Ming injured his foot two seasons ago, requiring foot surgery that kept him out all of last season. Ming's surgeon is demanding that Ming limit his playing time if he wants his foot to make it through the playoffs. In addition to limiting his minutes, Ming's surgeon is also recommending that Ming take further precautions, such as skip the second of back-to-back games.

Quite an expensive injury for the Rockets, considering they are paying Ming about $17 million for his occasional 24 minute efforts this season. I guess, they are lucky to have those minutes at all - because without Ming their playoff hopes are in serious jeopardy.
