To those Californians reading this, you may be thinking that a "double-double" is a burger at In-n-Out. True, but in sports, a "
double-double" is when a player, in one game, accumulates a double-digit amount total in two of five categories: points, rebounds, assists (passing to someone who scores), steals, and blocked shots. These are fairly common achievements by star players in the NBA and NCAA.
Yet, a "triple-double," when a players accumulates a double digit number in three of the five categories, is much more rare. For example, the best player may achieve a tripe-double in 10% of his games in one season.
Well, last night Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant, achieved a triple-double in the team's win against the Sacramento Kings. He had double digits in points, rebounds, and assists.
