Another Break for Tiger

Today, Tiger Woods was named to the US Ryder Cup team by Captain Corey Pavin. The Ryder Cup is a golf tournament that pits the best golfers in the US versus those in Europe. The team is comprised of eight qualifiers and four captain picks. This is the first time Tiger failed to qualify for the Ryder Cup since qualifying in 1997. Pavin probably made the right call by selecting Woods as a captain pick, because Woods is still ranked no. 1 in the world in golf; yet Woods will really need to prove himself on Oct. 1-3 when the Ryder Cup takes place on European soil. (The US has never won the Cup on foreign soil.)

This totally reminds me of when you had to get your friends to pick you for their team at recess or during P.E. It was so much more about loyalty, than performance and winning. Hopefully, Tiger can pull out the win here, because much more hangs in the balance here than a fight between friends on the blacktop.
